EV Charging Installation for Home

EV Charging Installation for Home

Consumer preference for electrical vehicles (EV) have been rising over the past few years and sales have been increasing exponentially. Most electric vehicles are charged at home and as such, all EV owners need to install EV Charging equipment at home by licensed electricians. In addition, EV Chargers generally consume an additional 30 amp or 40 amp and as such, it increases the load on your electrical service from your hydro. Depending on your current usage and equipment you have at home, your current service and panel capacity may not be enough. As an example, if your current service is 100 amp and if you own a hot tub and a finished basement with an electric stove then, you may need a service upgrade to 125 amp or 200 amp. In such cases, we generally perform a load capacity assessment to determine of a service upgrade is needed or not. The Ontario Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) has provided a detailed knowledge base on EV Charging systems and can be accessed by clicking here.

At All Electrical, we have the ability and experience to help you with all aspects of your EV charging installing project which include load assessment, installation and commissioning and coordinating ESA inspection and post-installation maintenance support.
