Service Capacity and Load Calculation

If you are looking to add a secondary suite or install large appliances into your home, such as EV Charger, hot tub, then, you could be in a situation where your current hydro service may not be able to support the additional demand. You could end up with situations where your breakers on your panel are regularly tripping or you se flickering of lights in your home etc. These are indications of your demand outstripping supply.

Whenever we install additional appliances as mentioned above, we generally conduct a load assessment. As part of this load assessment, we take a look at your current service capacity (service from the hydro company, such 100 amp), the additional load the new appliance or suite could add, and perform a calculation, based on the electrical code, to ensure that the existing supply can meet the projected demand.

We provide a report with recommendations which is acceptable to the ESA inspectors. If you need to upgrade the current service, we will work with you, your hydro provider, and perform the service and panel upgrade as a turnkey project.
